SevyTaliban: Ex-Adventist Cults: Tell Your Story

If you have had an experience with one of these ex-Adventist cults and lived to tell the tale, we’d love to hear about it. If it relates to one of the currently listed cults or cult leaders, please provide your comment on their specific article page.

If your experience relates to a new cult or cult leader we haven’t yet listed, we would also love to be told about it. Raising awareness of these dangerous groups amongst our Adventist brethren is an important witnessing role.

A word of caution for readers. This is a personal blog not connected to nor endorsed by any church or organisation.

This site is NOT about the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church. This site is about dangerous cultish offshoots FROM the SDA Church. In fact, this site is produced by concerned Adventists who worry about the people in these ex-Adventist and independent-Adventist offshoots.

As such, it would be very much appreciated if you, the reader, could distinguish the 'mainstream' and official SDA Church, comprising some 22 million members, from the sort of tiny single-congregation sized ex-Adventst and independent-Adventist group who often purports to use our name and generates unwanted attention in the media. This site is dedicated to ex-Adventist and independent-Adventist offshoots. Some of which you have probably heard of, like David Koresh and the Branch Dividians - others you probably have not.

Finally, it should be remembered that many of the people in these ex-Adventist and independent-Adventist offshoots are wonderful, loving and caring Christian people. Thus, the criticisms outlined in this blog are not personal criticisms of them. Rather, the arguments outlined in the articles found on this site are primarily aimed at the systems and leaders who burden these wonderful people with unnecessary yokes.

If you belong to one of these ex-Adventist or independent-Adventist groups, you may disagree with this site. That is fine, provided you disagree in a Christian manner directed by 1 Pet 3:15-16. Constructive dialogue is encouraged - even if you want to disagree. The authors of this site will try to amend or update any errors if they can be substantiated. However, please refrain from personal attacks, threats, crude language, remembering to 'play the ball and not the man.'
